Liar’s Guillotine is a tense, single-player tabletop psychological horror duel.

You wake up seated across from a calculating dealer in a dimly lit, smoke-choked cellar. Resting between you is a miniature brass guillotine, two leather cups, and a set of worn bone dice. There are no cards, no chips, and no second chances.

Every lie carries a toll. Every wrong accusation drops the blade.

The Rules of the Table

  1. Shake and Conceal: Both players roll three dice beneath heavy leather cups. Only you know what lies beneath your cup.
  2. Raise the Bid: Take turns calling the total count of a die face across both hands ("At least three 5s"). Each claim must be higher than the last.
  3. Call the Bluff: When the numbers stop adding up, call the dealer’s lie. Reveal the dice.
  4. Pay in Flesh: If the bid stands true, the accuser loses a finger to the guillotine. If it was a bluff, the liar pays the price. Lose three fingers, and the house wins permanently.

Dirty Tactics & Table Tools

Survival isn't just about probability—it's about manipulating the table. Utilize tactile contraband to tilt the odds in your favor:

  • Peeker's Mirror: Slide a cracked dental mirror across the felt to inspect one of the dealer's hidden dice.
  • Weighted Die: Ensure your next reroll lands exactly where you need it.
  • Tourniquet: Stop the arterial clock to withstand one additional strike.
  • Heavy Mallet: Double the wager. The next failed bluff costs two fingers under the blade.
  • The Snuffer: Plunge the room into darkness to reroll your hand unnoticed.

Features

  • High-Tension Turn-Based Duels: Zero filler, zero wandering. Pure psychological cat-and-mouse against an adaptive, bluff-calling AI opponent.
  • Visceral Tactile Audio: Heavy ASMR-grade sound design—wooden dice clattering, leather scraping worn oak, metallic gears locking into place, and the guillotine blade dropping.
  • Low-Fi Analog Horror Aesthetic: Gritty PSX-inspired visuals, CRT post-processing, authentic volumetric shadow work, and claustrophobic framing.
  • Quick, Deadly Runs: Designed for 15-to-20 minute sessions with high replayability, branching item drops, and escalating AI difficulty.
